August 28, 2017- Solar Eclipse
The Solar Eclipse is a very special event that happened very recently. This is special because very rarely is it a full eclipse and one that an observer in the US can see.
I used my camera to determine how the clouds would be effected by the Solar Eclipse.
Non-Renewable Energy
Nuclear is the energy released during nuclear fusion.
Coal is pulverised and then burned to create energy.
Crude Oil are petroleum products that become fuels and the fuel gets burned.
Natural Gas is a fossil fuel used as a source of energy for heating, cooking, and electricity generation.

Invasive Species
To be an invasive species a species must: not be native, destroy natural habitat, have few predators in the location it is invading. An thriving ecosystem can be destroyed because one invasive species disrupts the flow. It may had taken thousands of years of evolution to create one particular ecosystem but all of that can be destroyed with something like a Cane Toad. Invasive species can eat up all of one food source leaving organisms who only eat that one food source with nothing. This can lead to population decrease as well the decrease in food supply. Cane Toads are incredibly dangerous to the native species in Australia because their is no predator to eat them. The leads to an overpopulation in the invasive species and a lack in the native species. The Cane Toad were very dangerous because there was no animal that could kill it. In fact any animal that tried would die from poison.
Wetlands/ Save The Bay
Wetlands
Wetlands are saturated lands that mostly consists of marshes or swamps. They are important because they hold a lot of biodiversity. Their distinct ecosystem protects not only the wildlife, but also helps humans. Humans are protected from floods, pollution, and water quality. Wetlands have been declining because of global climate change. The increasing temperatures and rising sea levels have destroyed habitats. This is why restoration is so important. Restoration is the process of rehabilitating a degraded wetland. It saves the biodiversity. For our presentation we did the red fox. The red fox was originally from Europe and was brought over to American for the purpose of clothing/ for trading. To try to manage the rangers have use sterilization, organized hunting, exclusion.
Their natural predators are coyotes, eagles, and mountain lions.
Save the Bay
On the field trip to the wetlands, our class was told to collect data of both the restored and unrestored areas. This data will later be used to compare the successfulness of restoration. We measured ph, salinity, moisture, soil type, and the biodiversity. Citizen science is important to the save the bay program because they rely on the local people to care about the environment enough to restore it. It is because of all the help they get from volunteers, that they are able to be successful. All citizens share this common home, so it is everyone’s responsibility to work for it. On the trip, what went well was working with my group to take measurements. IiT was easier to work with people and we got it done more efficiently. There were no areas for improvement.
